Summary:
The Clinical Educator is a professional development specialist whose primary responsibility is to facilitate lifelong learning and professional development activities among clinical staff. Through the application of adult learning theory and strong instructional design, the Clinical Educator's work results in measurable program outcomes in areas such as new hire orientation, ongoing competency, in-services, continuing education, career development, scholarship/research, and academic partnerships.

Responsibilities:
* Onboarding/Orientation: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs for clinical personnel including transition-to-practice programs for novice or new graduate clinicians.
* Competency Management: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates initial and ongoing competency programs for clinical personnel.
* Education: The Clinical Educator designs, implements and evaluates educational activities and programs based on identified practice gaps for a specific target audience. The Clinical Educator utilizes knowledge of educational theory and adult learning principles to enhance the professional development of clinical personnel.
* Professional Role Development: The Clinical Educator identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of growth through lifelong learning including: role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and skill mastery.
* Quality Improvement/Evidence-based Practice/Research: The Clinical Educator integrates the best research evidence into didactic and clinical education design. The Clinical Educator promotes and participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives in the clinical setting.
* Collaborative Partnerships: The Clinical Educator consults, advises, teaches and coordinates with other individuals, groups, departments and/or institutions concerning education and learning.

 How You’ll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 3 years related clinical and/or nursing experience Required
* Documentation of previous teaching experience Preferred

EDUCATION
* Four-year Bachelor's degree in Nursing  Required
* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* TX State licensure in Nursing Required
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
* PALS, PEARS/PACES, or NRP based on specialty area requirements Required
* If PEARS/PACES required: Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification (no later than April 20, 2022). Req
* National specialty certification appropriate for area(s) of responsibility Preferred
